Forestry

Forestry involves the management and conservation of forests and woodlands for ecological, economic, and social benefits. Forestry courses teach students about forest ecology, tree identification, silviculture, forest measurement, timber harvesting, and forest products. Students may also learn about wildlife management, forest policy, and conservation biology. Students can expect to learn: Tree biology and physiology: Students will learn about the anatomy, growth, and development of trees, including how they respond to environmental factors such as light, water, and nutrients. Forest ecology: Students will learn about the complex interactions between plants, animals, and the environment in forest ecosystems, including the role of forests in mitigating climate change. Forest management: Students will learn about the principles and practices of sustainable forest management, including forest inventory, timber harvesting, and regeneration techniques.
