Climate-Smart Agriculture

Climate-smart agriculture is a concept that integrates climate change considerations and sustainable agriculture practices. As a category of agricultural educational courses, students can expect to learn about the following: Sustainable Agriculture: Students will learn about sustainable farming practices that conserve natural resources, such as soil and water, and minimize negative impacts on the environment. They will also learn about integrated pest management and organic farming techniques. Climate Change Mitigation: Students will learn about ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable farming practices, such as carbon sequestration, improved livestock management, and the use of renewable energy. Climate Change Adaptation: Students will learn about ways to adapt to the impacts of climate change, such as more frequent and severe weather events, changes in growing seasons, and altered pest and disease patterns. They will learn about strategies to improve resilience, such as diversification of crops, improved water management, and use of drought-resistant crops.
